Preparing For Your Ann Arbor Senior Photo Session

Seniors! We tried to think of everything, so you wouldn’t have to. You might be wondering…

  • What should I expect?
  • What do I wear?
  • What do I bring to my session?
  • What makes my session unique?
  • What if pictures make me anxious?
  • What if the weather is bad?
  • What happens after the shoot?

I know that your senior year is filled with plenty of (stressful!) decisions – your pics should be the least of your worries! I am committed to keeping this simple. We’ll cover all your questions – before your session, the day of your session, and what happens afterwards!

Your Ann Arbor Senior Photo Session

Before Your Session

What locations will we use?

Your photographer will know all the best spots on the farm for the particular time of day and season. You will have access to our full 70 acres of beauty – ponds, meadows, wildflowers, barns, & orchards. Unlike a park, we have a modern-rustic studio to retreat to in between outdoor locations. (Think dressing room! Bathroom! and simple backdrops for the yearbook photo!)

What’s the best time for photos?

The hour around sunset has glowing, flattering light. Choose one of our longer session options to ensure access to golden hour time blocks!

What should I wear for senior photos?

Bring clothes that make you feel like yourself. There are dozens of Pinterest boards out there to help you get ideas. We will start your session in the studio where you can set up your clothing, accessories, etc., and you will have a mirror for makeup and hair touch ups. Professional hair and makeup is something that a few seniors choose, but we will make you look your best regardless. And don’t let a facial blemish stress you – those are easily removed in editing later.

On the Day of Your Session

We’ve talked about preparing for your session – Let’s talk about what to expect on the day of!

What should I bring?

There is no pressure to bring anything but yourself (and any clothing changes you want!) But you are welcome to make your session unique by including items that represent you – we’ve photographed seniors with their instruments, truck, varsity jackets, sketch pads, sports items, favorite books, art supplies, motorcycle, and even a vintage typewriter!

Who can join me?

Your family or pet is welcome! We encourage you to get a few photos with a parent, sibling, or friend! We also love dogs! Note: please keep dogs leashed if you are insure about their behavior around farm animals. 🙂

What about the weather?

We will be keeping a careful eye on the weather leading up to your session. If it is too hot, cold, windy, rainy, or muddy we can reschedule your session. We will be in contact via text if that needs to happen! We save space in our calendar to reschedule when needed.

I’m feeling nervous!

You are not alone! So many people feel uncomfortable or anxious in front of a camera! But don’t worry. Our photographers are experts at helping you get comfortable, giving you tips on posing, and making sure you have a fun photo session. Our clients tell us again and again that they are so grateful for our relaxed setting and style! Most seniors say they were surprised by how much they enjoyed the process!

Following Your Session

What happens after my session?

About two weeks after your session, you’ll get an email letting you know your images are ready for viewing. You’ll select your favorites, and we will do spot editing on those. A few days after that, your images are ready for download! We’ll also format your yearbook photo for you (if needed) and help you place a print order for grad cards, wallet prints, display prints, or an album (if desired).

What products do you offer?

We tried to think of everything a graduate might need! Our wallet prints, signature albums, wall prints, small gift prints, and graduation cards are all high quality and backed 100% – if you don’t love something, we make it right.

What does my session come with?

Your package comes with an online viewing gallery, and a number of full sized, edited digital images ready for printing (amount varies by package). It also includes a yearbook image formatted for your school.

Will my images be edited?

Yup! Your images will have lighting, cropping, and color adjustments made, along with any detailed facial touch ups on any images you select. We smooth skin and hair. Edits we do not do are body sculpting, or wardrobe or makeup changes.
