Newborn session in the renovated barn studio

The reality is as I hoped it would be when we planned the renovation – natural light fills every room.  No backdrops, just natural materials, real beauty.  I can shoot anywhere in the barn – there is nothing to crop around or hide.  (Even the outlets on the walls were strategically placed to stay out of sight)  Soft light, beams and stone – and then add one sweet family being real with their two adorable boys.  Dreamy.

Winter Maternity – Ann Arbor Farm

So feminine, so lovely.

To me, winter is one of the most inspiring seasons for light.  The whole world offers itself as a monochromatic backdrop.  The sunrises are studies in pinks on pale blue frosted fields. This shoot is inspired by the subtle pastels of winter. And it proves that even a snowless winter day can be the ideal setting for a winter session.  All images shot in our 1880’s farmhouse and the surrounding land of our Ann Arbor Farm location. (And my shutter speed was fast enough that you can’t see her shiver!)AmyKimballPhotography_0972

January Update: Newborns, Maternity and Farmhouse Renovations

January means lots of maternity sessions for all the babies that will be born this spring! And, of course, the winter newborns. I feel thankful on a weekly basis that I spend my days hanging out with new (and expecting) parents who are so genuinely interesting to talk to and a joy to spend time with. I have the best clients.

January also had enough time to do to some minor renovations in the farmhouse, and grow some paperwhite bulbs in the windows. (cause I get a little frantic when I can’t be in the garden on a regular basis!) A hodgepodge of images from the past weeks:

Winter Newborn Session

A favorite shoot with a little man who was so sweet and sleepy.   Delightful parents, big brother, and grandma joined in  – a lucky baby boy to be born to such great love.

A passing year…Milestone packages

Taking her one year images reminded me of the sweetness of her newborn session.  Loved then, loved now;  here they are, side by side. These shoots were part of a Milestone package – a collection of first year sessions that parents purchase in advance.   Contact us to find out all the benefits of a milestone package.
