Amy's story
...where city meets country
Living on a farm on the edge of Ann Arbor is truly my sweet spot. I love being surrounded by nature, but I also cherish the cultural diversity that comes from being near a vibrant city like Ann Arbor.
I started AKP to take beautiful, natural light photos of newborns and families 17 years ago because I genuinely love people. From Metro Detroit to Ann Arbor, it's such a joy to work with clients from all over the world, and I’m always inspired by the stories I hear. I enjoy big commercial projects for brands I believe in, and I’m photographing my second book this year. (Link to the first book!)
But I equally find joy in working with a spirited toddler or helping a shy teen feel comfortable in front of the camera. People are my heart.
Nate and I are passionate about permaculture, organic gardening, and our pasture-raised animals. We are very close to our 4 college-aged kids, who work alongside us to make this place home. See pictures of our journey renovating the old barn into our rustic-modern studio.

I can't do life solo...
...and I absolutely love making beautiful photos with people whose gifts outshine my own.
