Workshops & Retreats
I am passionate about empowering others in the arts! For many years, I have LOVED teaching photography to high school students. Within my business, I have been teaching and mentoring adults in the arts for the last 12 years. Making complicated ideas simpler, seeing someone grasp something for the first time, watching another person achieve what they thought was unobtainable - this is what it's all about for me.
Teen Photography Camp
I have been teaching high school photography classes for 8 years and am offering a condensed version of my school year program in a two day summer camp. Topics include shooting in manual mode, learning DSLR camera functions, composition, light, & editing in Lightroom.
We will also cover the works of many historical and modern photographers. There will be lots of practice time around our 70 acre farm. Teens need to pack their own DSLR camera and lunch. Snacks and beverages provided. For students ages 14-18. Camp is capped at 15 students.

Photo Workshops
Workshops are small group learning opportunities lasting 3 hours, covering one of the topics listed below. Excellent for adults, college students, (or mature HS students with approval!)
Participants should bring either a DSLR camera or camera phone if preferred, a journal for notes, and for editing workshops, a pre-loaded copy of Adobe Lightroom on their phone or laptop. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Group size will not exceed 8 students.
These are designed to be relational, with time built in for questions, conversation and practice. This is a really fun way to invest in yourself creatively, and workshop also make great gifts!

So you own a mirrorless or DSLR camera, but you are kind-of using it like a phone…what can your camera do that you phone cannot? This is the class for those that want to get off auto, and have creative control. Covering exposures, lenses, focusing, composition and natural light - you will walk out empowered to get the most out of your investment. Lots of time for practice and questions included.
Make your images artful with the foundations of learning to see light and purposeful composition. We will study the work of the great historical and modern photographers and uncover principles that you can apply to your own everyday shooting. This information will change the way you photograph your life, whether you are using your phone or your DSLR.
Photographer Dorothea Lange once famously said "A camera is an instrument that teaches people to see without a camera." In this class you will learn to use photography as a tool to slow down. Art through photography can be a way to become more connected and aware of yourself and the world. Learn exercises to engage with photography from a contemplative mindset.
Lightroom is the tool that professionals everywhere use to edit their images. Come to this class with a laptop, ipad or phone with Lightroom loaded and ready to use. We will go over all the functions of lightroom editing. Give your own images the style that you see in professional images.
