I just love this shoot! Often I have to talk parents into being in a shoot. (9 out of 10 adults I work with are self-conscience and camera shy – so if you feel this way you are not alone!) But nothing puts a child at ease more than being in their parent’s arms. And nothing makes a better portrait and keepsake than capturing the relationship you cherish.
My studio has charge of a very large historical home in Pleasant Ridge. We use about 2000 square feet of the house, but have just renovated an additional 1000 square feet of space to sublet as office space. The space has a private entrance from the outside, it’s own suite number and mailbox, and 3 private bathrooms. There are 3 large rooms, and 4 large storage closets. Had so much fun with this family – older kids have such personality to capture and such motion and interaction. Julie, the mom, is a writer for many nationally published women’s magazines and will be using the color shots of herself in those publications. Great shoot Julie and Bobby – thanks so much!

I was looking through old photos from the summer tonight, and saw these of my second-born. My kids each tend to have definitive ideas about their future from a young age. For example, my serious first born has said he will be a bio-chemist since he first heard those words at like, age four. The second born is the self declared “Rancher”. Her grandparents took her horseback riding for her birthday, but something about these photos makes her look so much older than the little 7 year old girl she still is. Maybe if you capture a child doing what they really love, they reflect their adult self, and you’re getting to peak in the future. Just a theory.
